For the last six weeks I had the pleasure of studying Italian on the Amalfi Coast. Each day was spent meeting new people, exploring new places, and creating fun memories that will last a lifetime. Each year my school accepts a select number of students to travel to Italy to learn about the Italian language and culture in Salerno. Our affiliate school, Academia Italiana graciously filed each day with cultural excursions and seminars, and Saturday trips to Amalfi, Pompeii, and Naples.
One of our first excursions was touring the Castello di Arechi. The view of Salerno from the castle is absolutely breathtaking. If you ever find yourself in Salerno I recommend you take an afternoon touring the castle.
Since October 2009, the Arechi Castle hosts the Medieval Museum, which contains artifacts, found during 1970s/1980s excavations. During the tour of the museum you can see historical ceramics, a production kitchen and pantry, fragments of glass tableware, metal materials like keys, knives, and nails, and clothing accessories and personal ornaments.
Fun Story: Without our teacher knowing, a friend and I climbed over a ledge to a restricted area to get a few of these pictures. (I do not recommend anyone doing this because it is HIGHLY dangerous). However, a few days later we found out the school used one of our pictures as a promotional item.
I hope you enjoyed this post. I can’t wait to share more of my Italia Adventures with you. Thanks for Reading!
Until Next Time,
Danielle

Yay! Thank you. You will love Italy the country is so beautiful and charming.
I absolutely love Italy, it’s one of my favorite places on the planet. I studied abroad in Rome last summer and traveled to a bunch of places, but Cinque Terre which has similar cliff/ocean views was my favorite! This post brings back so many memories, I want to go back soon!
