A Colorful Day in Procida

A few weeks ago, a few friends of mine asked if I wanted to accompany them to Procida, Italy. Since I have never been there before I jumped at the opportunity to go. Procida is one of the Flegrean Islands off the coast of Naples, and is nestled in between Cape Miseno and Ischia. It’s a small island that is far less touristic than Ischia and Capri. All the buildings in this town are picture perfect with bold and beautiful colors as far as the eye can see.

We spent a full day on the island, starting our travels around 8:30 in the morning. We knew that the sooner we get there, the more time we would have to explore the town and relax on the beach. After about two hours of travel, we first decided to stop by a bar to rest our feel and fill our bellies. After a few minutes of researching local restaurant options we stopped at Bar Dal Cavaliere, a local bar filled with many pastry and food options. Of course as a lover of chocolate I immediately went for the chocolate cake filled with chocolate cream and a chocolate cappuccino.

Since none of us have been to Procida nor had a true plan in mind, we decided to wander through the town to see what exciting things we can find. After walking up the island we eventually came across the most breathtaking and beautiful view of the island from the top of a cliff. I had to keep pinching myself because I could not believe this place was actually real. Seriously, the island looks like it is straight out of a magazine or a postcard.

After spending about 30-45 minutes we finally made our way to top of the mountain to see to a church (Sorry I’ cant remember the name) where even more unreal views of the island can be seen. After a short time at the church we headed down the mountain in search of a beach. At this time of year most of the cities and beaches on the Amalfi Coast are flooded with tourist and exploring these cities can be a bit of a mad house in these towns. It was so refreshing to be in a smaller and less populated town.
