A Day in London – Part 1

A few weeks ago I traveled to England to celebrate My 22nd Birthday. When I arrived I was warmly greeted by Katie. My birthday was a lovely one filled with a chocolate birthday cake, drinks, and a ton of fun. It was so nice to be able to celebrate it with new friends in a new and exciting city. I had never been to England prior to the birthday weekend and I was excited to explore London.

Katie attends a university in Reading, England, where we spent most of the weekend but on Saturday we were able to take a train out to London. Once you figure out London’s public transportation system, especially the tube, it’s rather easy and quick to get around in the city. After getting off at the nearest stop and crossing a nearby bridge we headed to the Jubilee Gardens where we sat and enjoyed street entertainers and the view of the London Eye and Thames River. The Jubilee Gardens is a public park on the south bank in the London Borough of Lambeth. The gardens were created in 1977 to mark the Silver Jubilee of Elizabeth II.

After some time relaxing in the Jubilee Gardens we walked alongside the river to see Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster.  Unfortunately, Big Ben was under restoration so I wasn’t able to see its beauty up close. London is just one of those cities that is full of countless things from touring museums, visiting art galleries, and unwinding in countless gardens. Beauty is everywhere in London and I couldn’t help myself from taking pictures of everything.

After a short walk through the streets of London, we arrived at Buckingham Palace! Although the area was filled with the tourist it was nice to finally see the famous palace in person.

Prior to my birthday trip, I purchased this comfy faux fur pink coat from ASOS. I also purchased this gray hat with the pink furball from H&M the day before we headed to London. I’m so happy I made those purchased as London was pretty cold and windy compared to what I’m use to in southern Italy (some days the temperature is still in the 70s). Be sure to check back next week as I share part 2 of my day in London.
