A Day in London – Part 2

If you read this post, then you know that I was in England for my birthday weekend. I was staying with a good friend of mine Katie, who studies and lives in Reading. On Saturday, we bundled up in our warmest clothes and dressed in many layers, we set off to London. We started our day seeing the Eye of London, walking through the Jubilee Gardens, and visiting Buckingham Palace. After we finished snapping tons of pictures and appreciating the architecture of the Palace and the surrounding monuments we headed to St. James Parks for an afternoon stroll.

Full of the autumnal colors of red, yellow, and orange, St. James Park was absolutely beautiful. In Italy, there aren’t too many parks where I live and most of the trees are evergreen so there really isn’t a fall foliage here. It was so nice to feel surrounded by fall. There was people in the park chatting with their friends and loved ones while sipping on what I imagined were a Starbucks Pumpkin Lattes (hahahaha), children playing around in fallen leaves, and people reading the latest bestsellers. The scenes of the park reminded me of the parks in the United States.

After a few moments of playing in the leaves, we left the park and took the train to Covent Garden. What once was a popular fruit and vegetable market, Covent Gardens is now a bustling place full of restaurants and shops. Magicians, dancers, and singers lined the streets while providing delightful and compelling entertainment to their audiences. Since I indulge in Italian food on a daily basis I was so happy when we saw Shake Shack that I didn’t mind waiting in the long line for a taste of a bacon burger and cheese fries!

After we ate lunch we headed back to Reading to get ready for a night full of Halloween parties. Although my time in London was brief, I had tons of fun and look forward to the day I can return and explore the city and England’s countryside.
