Minerva Gardens

After working on the English marketing material for Accademia Italiana for weeks, I was excited to accompany the students and photograph their tour of the Giardina della Minerva. “Minerva Gardens”. It’s always nice to get the opportunity to leave the office and explore new places. The gardens offered beautiful scenery and an impeccable view of the city.

Created in the eighteenth century by Matteo Silvatico, a physician from the Schola Medica Salernitana, the oldest medical school in the world. This garden was created as the first botanical garden in all of Europe. All of the herbs grown in the gardens were cultivated and used for therapeutic uses.

Walking around the garden is like walking through a fragrant paradise with all the herbs being grown there. There is a water flow functions by the means of troughs and fountains making the garden even more enchanting. There is also a refreshment bar on the property where visitors can enjoy fresh herbal teas. I had an ice tea made of mint, lemon, and rosemary. It was really good and you could definitely taste the freshness.
